Job summary

Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Behavioral Health/Develop seeks a Senior Grounds Worker at Catawba Hospital. The role covers routine lawn and landscaping maintenance, snow/ice removal, and completing maintenance work orders to ensure safe access and compliant facilities.

Candidate will operate mowers and heavy equipment, follow written and oral instructions, and perform heavy manual labor as part of skilled trades tasks. Healthcare setting experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to physically perform duties and work the scheduled hours, including on-call on a rotating basis.
• Working knowledge of ground maintenance and ability to drive and operate mowers, tractors, heavy equipment, etc.
• Knowledge of installation, repair and maintenance practices in related trades including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical repair, painting, HVAC/refrigeration repair, and grounds keeping.
• Skill in using diagnostic tools, instruments and hand and power tools.
• Ability to perform repairs and maintenance tasks, heavy manual labor, and work from heights.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine lawn and landscaping maintenance including mowing, trimming, mulching, weeding, and maintaining sidewalks and parking areas.
• Completes routine and emergency work orders within established timeframes per safety and codes.
• Performs snow and ice removal to maintain safe access to the facility.
