Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Administration is seeking a Grounds Supervisor to lead the Grounds Support Services Unit. The role directs two supervisors, plans daily work, and oversees grounds operations, the division’s repair shop, and safety compliance. Strong leadership and a service mindset are essential.

The position emphasizes budgeting, procurement, and continuous improvement to support the Facilities Management Division, with a day shift and a Monday–Friday schedule in St. Paul.

Qualifications

• Two years of supervisory experience directing staff and meeting objectives.
• Experience planning, organizing, and directing grounds, maintenance, or facilities operations such as snow removal, sidewalk/parking lot maintenance, or similar outdoor work.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices and the ability to promote and maintain a safe work environment.
• Experience leading customer service responses, including resolving complaints and coordinating with partners.
• Valid Pesticide Applicator's License.
• Class B CDL.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Grounds Support Services Unit, including grounds operations and the division’s repair shop.
• Provide day-to-day leadership for two supervisors and their teams by setting priorities and planning work.
• Train staff, establish performance standards, coach and evaluate performance.
• Oversee unit purchasing and promote effective use of technology in daily operations.
• Direct snow removal and emergency response; oversee sidewalk and parking lot maintenance.
• Manage waste and organics hauling; lead program planning and improvement initiatives.
• Participate in division leadership activities; support special events and flag protocol.
• Ensue a respectful, customer-focused work environment.
• Handle staffing activities and resolve customer issues.
