Job summary

The City of Saint Paul is seeking a Grounds Crew Leader for the Parks and Recreation Operations Department. This role supervises a team responsible for custodial services, event setup, facility maintenance, and fleet care to keep city spaces clean, safe, and visually appealing year-round.

The position involves coordinating seasonal tasks and overseeing daily operations across city facilities, with a focus on safety, accessibility, and quality.

Qualifications

• Valid Minnesota CDL with endorsements for tanker and hazardous materials, no restriction for airbrakes.
• Hazardous materials endorsement must be obtained within 6 months from appointment.
• CDL must have no suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses in the past two years.
• Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License with categories A & E required at time of appointment.
• Prior completion of department training program for Grounds Crew Leader is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and coach a team responsible for daily operations of Parks and Recreation public spaces facilities.
• Oversee setup, tear-down, and cleanup for events and facility rentals.
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness throughout buildings and public spaces.
• Maintain and monitor fleet vehicles and equipment; report issues as needed.
• Coordinate snow removal and seasonal maintenance to ensure safety and accessibility.
• Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs; identify larger facility needs.
