Job summary

Northwood Space in Washington, DC seeks a senior infrastructure leader to own and evolve our global ground‑station infrastructure. You will translate ambiguity into scope, drive architecture, and serve as the final escalation point for on‑call incidents.

You will author RFCs, set technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate with security, compliance, product engineering, and ground station ops to deliver durable, scalable systems across our world‑spanning network.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production infrastructure experience across SRE, DevOps, platform, network, or systems engineering with ownership of enduring systems.
• Competence across Linux, networking, cloud (AWS or equivalents), infrastructure as code (Terraform), containers and Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and secrets management; expert-level depth in at least one area.
• Track record of solving ambiguous problems with designs that others can operate.
• Senior on-call experience with escalation responsibility.
• Strong coding and automation skills (Python, Go) and proven technical writing and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and drive scope in one or more infrastructure areas from framing to design, implementation, and operation.
• Define technical direction; write RFCs, evaluate tradeoffs, and set long-term operational standards.
• Serve as final escalation point on-call; lead incident resolution and post-incident reviews.
• Mentor engineers through design and code reviews, contributing durable knowledge across teams.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, product engineering, and ground station ops as a technical leader.
