We are seeking an experienced Senior Grid Connection Manager to lead grid connection strategy and execution for utility‑scale energy projects in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market.
Location: Houston, TX | Salary: $137,000.00 – $186,000.00
Responsibilities
- Early‑Stage Grid Strategy
- Lead early‑stage grid feasibility assessments for new project opportunities in ERCOT.
- Advise development teams on siting decisions, queue strategy, and interconnection risk.
- Develop and manage grid connection strategies aligned with project economics and timelines.
- Grid Application & Development Phase
- Own ERCOT interconnection applications, including Interconnection Requests.
- Coordinate with Transmission Service Providers and review System Impact Studies, Facilities Studies, and cost allocations.
- Manage grid‑related inputs during the development phase up to Notice to Proceed (NTP) and pre‑construction.
- Stakeholder & Process Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact with ERCOT, TSPs, and external consultants.
- Coordinate internal teams (development, engineering, commercial, legal) on grid matters.
- Track regulatory, procedural, and market changes impacting ERCOT interconnections.
- Identify grid risks early and propose mitigation strategies.
- Manage grid budgets, deposits, securities, and study cost forecasts.
- Support investment decisions with clear grid connection assumptions and sensitivities.
Required Experience & Skills
- Extensive experience managing ERCOT interconnection processes, particularly at early development stage.
- Background in grid connection for utility‑scale solar, wind, BESS, or hybrid projects.
- Strong understanding of ERCOT Protocols and Planning Guide, transmission planning, congestion considerations.
- Ability to interpret power system studies and challenge technical assumptions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercially minded with ability to balance technical, schedule, and cost risks.
- Degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
