Job summary

Studio Wildcard, known for ARK: Survival Evolved, seeks a Senior Graphics Programmer to push Unreal Engine 5 to its limits. You will handle core rendering systems, GPU performance, and advanced visual tech across PC and modern consoles.

You’ll work with the CTO and cross-functional teams on engine upgrades, shader pipelines, and large-scale open-world environments while adhering to hardware budgets and certification standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional C/C++ experience focusing on real-time rendering and low-level GPU systems.
• Expertise in rendering architecture using DirectX 12 (DX12).
• Hands-on experience profiling, debugging, and optimizing frame time with tools like PIX.
• Proficiency in HLSL shaders, compute shaders, and PBR materials.
• Deep, hands-on experience modifying Unreal Engine 4/5 source code.
• Experience with Perforce version control.
• Ability to work core hours of 10:00 AM PST to 4:00 PM PST.
• Willingness to be on-call for live issue firefighting and crunch periods during major launches.

Responsibilities

• Dive into the Unreal Engine C++ source to implement complex refactors and engine upgrades for massive open-world gameplay.
• Profile GPU performance and resolve rendering bottlenecks related to draw calls and LOD transitions.
• Investigate hardware profiles of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, respecting VRAM constraints and certification requirements.
• Enhance and optimize Unreal Engine 5 rendering with features like Lumen, Nanite, and hardware ray tracing.
• Collaborate with Technical Art and VFX to support materials and shader pipelines for dynamic environments.
