Job summary

Mujeres Latinas en Acción Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead grant accounting, compliance, and day-to-day fund execution. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will manage about $6.5 million in revenue across 60 funding streams and mentor program staff for audit readiness and accurate reporting.

Hybrid work with weekly in-office presence; CPA or MBA preferred and a minimum 5 years nonprofit accounting experience. Travel to other offices may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in nonprofits or related sectors.
• Strong knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance and Single Audit standards.
• Demonstrated analytical precision and multi-funded budget management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with program staff.
• Proficiency in modern accounting software and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Grant Setup & Monitoring: ensure compliance and deadlines across awards.
• Transaction Approval & Cost Allocations: approve expenditures and transfers.
• Voucher & Invoice Generation: prepare and reconcile reimbursement vouchers.
• Grant Close-Outs: manage close-out and final spend-downs.
• SEFA & Audit Schedule Lead: prepare SEFA for external audits.
• General Ledger Reconciliations: monthly reconciliations and line-item audits.
• Corrective Action Implementation: address audit findings with stakeholders.
• Day-to-Day Program Advisory: provide spend-down reports and budget support.
• Grant Compliance Training: train staff on policies and documentation.
