Job summary

NRDC is seeking a Senior Grant Writer to join the Development team in New York, Washington DC, or Chicago. The role focuses on crafting proposals, concept notes, budgets, and reports for foundations and corporations.

You will collaborate with program, capacity, and front-line fundraising teams to translate complex information into compelling donor communications and lead submission processes. Ideal candidates have 4–7 years in nonprofit fundraising writing, a Bachelor's degree, and a commitment

Qualifications

Minimum 4–7 years of experience writing for a high-volume nonprofit Development department.
Bachelor's degree required.
Strong ability to write for large institutional foundations.
Experience working in a complex, fast-paced organization.

Responsibilities

Support efforts to maintain and grow revenue from institutional donors by writing fundraising materials.
Collaborate with U.S. and international program teams, capacity teams, and fundraisers to develop narratives that align with funder priorities.
Create project plans and timelines, coordinate input from internal teams for funder documents.
Compile and integrate complex information about NRDC’s programmatic work into clear language.
Lead writing assignments from planning through submission, coordinating contributors across teams.
