Job summary

Big Ideas Educational Services is seeking an experienced Grant Writer & Funding Development Specialist to secure and manage grant funding across federal, state, foundation, and corporate sources. This independent contractor role focuses on owning the grant lifecycle from research through submission and post-award reporting.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in researching and securing grant funding.
• Experience developing and submitting state and/or federal grant applications.
• Experience with foundation, corporate, or private funding sources.
• Strong ability to identify funding opportunities aligned with programs and growth.
• Experience managing complex grant applications with multiple components and deadlines.
• Excellent written communication, editing, and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow detailed RFP requirements and submission instructions.
• Capability to manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Research and identify funding opportunities across federal, state, local, foundation, corporate, and private sources.
• Lead development and writing of competitive grant applications, including complex RFPs.
• Develop compelling narratives communicating need, design, outcomes, impact, and sustainability.
• Coordinate grant components: budgets, attachments, data, documents, letters of support.
• Manage grant calendars, deadlines, renewals, reporting, and milestones.
• Maintain organized grant files and track submitted, awarded, and pending opportunities.
• Support renewal and post-award reporting and required amendments.
• Build and maintain organizational profiles with funders and government agencies.
