Job summary

Genentech seeks a Senior Scientist in Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology to advance GPCR-based therapeutics. You will drive discovery, select and evaluate modalities, and contribute to project strategies from bench to IND readiness.

You will design and execute advanced molecular pharmacology assays, lead collaborative teams, and mentor scientists while integrating new technologies to push next-generation therapeutics forward.

Qualifications

• PhD in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology or related field required.
• Demonstrated expertise in receptor theory, signal transduction pathways, allosteric modulation, and biased signaling with hands-on GPCR assay experience.
• Experience with primary cells and gene-editing techniques (e.g., CRISPR).
• Proven track record in developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting biochemical and cell-based assay cascades.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary GPCR expert on multidisciplinary project teams and drive strategic decisions.
• Oversee in vitro pharmacological characterization to advance lead candidates in relevant disease areas.
• Design, optimize, and execute complex molecular pharmacology assays (protein-protein interactions, second messengers, biosensors).
• Mentor scientists and collaborate to streamline workflows and ensure robust data analysis.
• Maintain deep domain expertise and evaluate new technologies to advance pharmacological capabilities.
• Communicate findings with internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
