Job summary

Bart & Associates, Inc. is seeking a skilled Buyer to support a federal government contract in Huntsville. You will source suppliers, prepare RFQs, and manage the end-to-end procurement process for production materials.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery and compliance with contract requirements. The role emphasizes price analysis, supplier negotiations, and maintaining auditable procurement records, with emphasis on government regulations and supplier performance

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of progressive procurement/purchasing experience in government contracting or production environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS requirements and supplier-source controls.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems for requisitions, purchasing, and supplier management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare RFQs; identify and solicit qualified suppliers; obtain and evaluate quotations; support supplier selection per procedures.
• Procure from approved sources; verify supplier-source considerations including traceability and risk.
• Perform price analysis and price reasonableness determinations using competition, historical pricing, and market research.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, lead times, payment terms, and other commercial terms.
• Convert approved requisitions into purchase orders; issue and administer orders with applicable flowdowns; maintain procurement files.
• Support production material planning; identify shortages and long-lead items; communicate impacts to stakeholders.
• Obtain and maintain supplier order acknowledgments; monitor supplier performance and coordinate with Quality/Engineering to resolve issues.
• Maintain auditable procurement records and support CPSR, DCMA, and audits.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support procurement execution and material availability.
• Support small-business participation and supplier development.
