Job summary

County of Ventura is seeking an APCD Fiscal Officer to oversee accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting for the district. You will supervise staff, coordinate audits, and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements, including CAFR and OMB Single Audit processes.

The ideal candidate has extensive government accounting experience, strong supervisory skills, and the ability to manage complex fiscal operations in a regulatory environment.

Qualifications

• Considerable experience in accounting leading to knowledge, skills, and abilities normally obtained with a bachelor's degree plus accounting coursework.
• Five years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience including two years in a supervisory role.
• Substitution: additional accounting experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, reviews, and oversees development of the District budget, financial statements, and other fiscal reports.
• Resolves complex accounting problems and provides guidance on fiscal policies and procedures.
• Supervises staff and ensures adherence to policies and professional standards.
• Prepares federal and state grant applications, reports, and compliance documentation.
• Coordinates audits and prepares the CAFR and OMB Single Audit.
