Job summary

Ventura County is seeking a skilled APCD Fiscal Officer to oversee complex accounting functions, budgets, and audits within the district. The role emphasizes supervision, compliance, and high-quality financial reporting for state and federal requirements.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive government accounting experience, strong supervisory skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple audits and financial reports while ensuring adherence to regulations and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 18 semester units in accounting required.
• Five years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Must possess, prior to appointment, and maintain a valid California driver license.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience in governmental auditing and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and oversee the District budget and financial statements.
• Coordinate with state/federal audits and prepare CAFR and OMB Single Audit.
• Prepare Board letters and fiscal reports; manage accounting records and controls.
• Provide technical accounting guidance and supervise staff.
• Liaise with other divisions and external agencies to resolve fiscal issues.
