Computational Physics, Inc. in Virginia is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to expand our Finance team.

You'll manage government contract billing and accounts receivable and provide backup support for other accounting functions. This role offers varied responsibilities, close collaboration with the team, and opportunities to improve accounting processes while ensuring compliance with FAR, DCAA, and DFARS requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least three years of progressive accounting experience, including government contract billing and accounts receivable.
• Working knowledge of FAR Part 31, DCAA requirements, and GAAP.
• Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting or ERP systems.
• Accuracy, accountability, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines.
• Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly invoices for cost-reimbursable, T&M, labor-hour, and firm-fixed-price contracts per FAR/DFARS.
• Submit and track invoices through WAWF/PIEE, IPP, and portals; resolve rejections.
• Manage accounts receivable, cash posting, aging reviews, collections, and GL reconciliation.
• Monitor funding, billed/unbilled balances, and ceilings; flag issues early.
• Backup support for accounts payable and semi-monthly payroll; process expenses and vendor payments.
• Review costs for allowability, allocability, and correct project coding.
• Support month-end close, DCAA/DCMA audits, and incurred cost submissions.
• Maintain documentation and desk procedures; help improve processes.
