Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a temp-to-hire role in Burlington, MA. The position focuses on government contract cost accounting, budgeting, invoicing, and audit support, with daily exposure to AP/AR, GL, and financial reporting.

You will work under the Director of Finance, supporting project cost accounting, financial management, and government invoicing while ensuring compliance with FAR/DFARS and auditing requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required or preferred.
• 8–10 years of accounting operations experience.
• 5+ years in government/DoD contract cost accounting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and processes.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Experience with Unanet or similar systems preferred.
• Familiarity with FAR/DFARS preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Independent contributor who can manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support daily accounting activities including AP, AR, payroll, journal entries, and GL management.
• Prepare invoices and financial information for government contracts.
• Maintain accounting data within Unanet ERP.
• Review travel estimates and employee expense reports.
• Manage monthly close activities including prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, and GL accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close.
• Manage full-cycle Accounts Receivable.
• Support annual budgeting and indirect rate proposals for government contracts.
• Assist with Incurred Cost Submissions and related audits.
• Provide documentation for audits and various insurances and plans.
• Use Excel and reporting tools for financial analysis and data maintenance.
• Collaborate with Finance leadership to resolve issues and meet deadlines.
