Job summary

Applied Intuition is seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant to manage full-cycle Accounts Payable in a government contracting context. You will handle job cost allocations, subcontractor invoicing, and travel expense reconciliations, ensuring FAR/DFARS compliance and audit readiness.

The role requires expertise in JFTR/FTR rules, per diem rates, and sales/use tax accruals. Collaboration with project managers and contracts teams will be essential to validate costs and support month-end

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience within a federal government contracting environment, with focus on accounts payable and job costing.
• Advanced understanding of FAR/DFARS cost principles, allowability and government accounting standards.
• Proven experience processing and auditing travel expense reports complying with JFTR, FTR, and federal per diem rules.
• Strong background in job cost allocation, cost segregation, and subcontractor invoice tracking.
• Knowledge of sales and use tax accruals, thresholds, and multistate compliance.
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as PROCAS, Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar platforms.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills for reconciliations and cost reports.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; able to prioritize multiple deliverables.
• Ability to gain a US Government security clearance

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP) processing, including coding, approvals, and disbursements in FAR-compliant practice.
• Manage job cost coding and allocation to cost objectives, ensuring accuracy and allowability per FAR 31 and contract terms.
• Perform subcontractor invoice reviews and reconciliations, ensuring alignment with contracts and funding.
• Process and audit employee travel expense reports per policy and JFTR/FTR regulations.
• Maintain and apply per diem rates based on GSA schedules and contract requirements.
• Calculate and record sales and use tax accruals for applicable purchases and remittance.
• Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules; prepare adjusting entries.
• Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and contracts teams to validate costs and approvals.
• Maintain audit-ready AP documentation and travel reimbursements.
• Support month-end close, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Assist in preparing schedules for DCAA/DCMA and audits and IRS inquiries.
• Provide continuous improvement of AP and job cost processes.
