Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience in public relations, communications, political science, business administration, or related field.
• 8 years in government relations, public policy, public affairs, political campaigns, legislative offices or related fields.
• 5 years leading or coordinating lobbyists, consultants, coalition partners, or advocacy initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.
• 5 years building relationships with national organizations of state officials, trade associations and policymakers.
• 3-5 years leading or coordinating cross-functional teams and complex projects in large organizations.
• Experience with local, state, and/or federal elected officials and regulators.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% for business purposes.

Responsibilities

• Lead state and local government affairs activities within assigned markets, managing advocacy strategies, engagement plans, and policy objectives.
• Lead policy portfolios and advance issues across states/local jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with regional and HQ leaders to drive Lowe's public policy objectives.
• Coordinate with Legal, Corporate Communications, Store Operations, and Supply Chain to align advocacy with enterprise priorities.
• Develop comprehensive government affairs strategies including direct advocacy, third-party engagement, and public engagement opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with governors, state legislators, mayors, and other public-sector stakeholders.
• Serve as interface with elected officials and community groups in assigned markets.
• Monitor legislation and ballot measures; analyze actions and formulate responses.
• Direct contract lobbyists/consultants as needed and work with trade associations.
• Serve as subject matter lead on priority retail policy issues impacting Lowe's enterprise.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, political science, business administration, or related field

8 years of experience in government relations, public policy, public affairs, political campaigns, legislative offices, trade associations, or corporate government affairs

5 years leading or coordinating lobbyists, consultants, coalition partners, or public policy advocacy initiatives

5 years developing and maintaining productive relationships with national organizations of state officials, trade associations, policymakers, and external stakeholders

3-5 years of leadership experience managing professionals, consultants, lobbyists, or cross-functional stakeholders

3-5 years managing multiple complex, cross-functional projects within a Fortune 500 company or similar

Demonstrated work experience with local, state, and/or federal elected officials, political parties, companies, consultancies, trade associations, governmental agencies

Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time
