Job summary

Dona Ana County is seeking an experienced accounting professional to analyze financial data, assist with budgets, ledgers, and cash requirements, and help develop internal controls in line with county policies.

The role focuses on maintaining complex fund accounting across various funds and providing timely financial reporting to support decision-making and compliance with GASB standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• Master of Accountancy or MBA preferred.
• Four years of progressively responsible accounting experience; government accounting preferred.
• CPA or CMFO/CGFM/CMA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare internal financial reports and analyze complex statements and contracts.
• Review journals, reconciliations, and schedules; assist with fixed assets and inventory calculations.
• Monitor budgets, revenues, expenditures, and trial balances; ensure proper postings.
• Assist in development of internal controls and auditing support.
• Support annual audits and preparation of audited Financial Statements.
