Job summary

The Texas Education Agency seeks a Senior Advisor for Governance to partner with school systems and boards across Texas. You will lead governance guidance, stakeholder engagement, and strategic initiatives to strengthen local governance and improve outcomes for students.

You will coordinate with agency leaders, deliver trainings, and ensure alignment with Texas education laws, while engaging external partners to drive statewide improvements.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
• 8+ years in educational leadership, governance, or organizational strategy with direct school board governance experience.
• Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and policy navigation skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a thought partner for school board members and district leaders, guiding governance best practices.
• Develop stakeholder-engagement strategies and coordinate with agency teams and partners.
• Develop and deliver governance trainings and resources; maintain required certifications.
• Coordinate governance policy and strategic initiatives across divisions and with state policymakers.
