Job summary

Zone 5 Technologies is seeking an analytical GovCon Accountant to support monthly closes, CAS reporting, and project-level financials for a fast-paced defense aerospace environment. You will lead the AP function, collaborate with program teams, and help implement new enterprise software.

The ideal candidate demonstrates independence, process improvement, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic setting, with preferred exposure to U.K. subsidiary accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Direct experience with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) in a government contracting environment, including CAS Disclosure Statements and CAS reporting.
• Experience implementing accounting software.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead process improvements, and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly close process and step up into broader role as a backup for team absences, as needed.
• Be cross-trained on close procedures, journal entries, and reconciliations sufficient to cover for others without disruption.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts to project ledger, research variances, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Manage Accounts Payable (AP) function.
• Partner with program/contracts teams to develop basis of estimates, supporting documentation, and regular program-level financial reporting.
• Assess our anticipated CAS coverage and obligations, lead the development and maintenance of CAS Disclosure Statements (not subject to CAS yet).
• Prepare and manage CAS-related reporting and support any CAS audits or reviews (TBD).
• Serve as a key contributor to the implementation of accounting (Bill.com, Concur) and new enterprise software.
• Help design workflows, approval hierarchies, and integrations with our existing accounting system.
• Support employee training and serve as an internal go-to resource post-launch.
• Experience with U.K. subsidiary accounting would be a nice to have, not need to have attribute.
