Job summary

City of Victoria, TX is seeking a Golf Maintenance Worker III to lead senior level turf operations, equipment troubleshooting, and project coordination on the golf course. This senior role supports the Superintendent and coordinates daily tasks to maintain course standards.

Work is outdoors; requires driving, safe operation of specialized equipment, and mentoring Level 1-2 operators. Candidate must meet Level 2 competencies and hold required licenses.

Qualifications

• Meets the minimum qualifications for Golf Maintenance Worker II
• Demonstrated successful performance at Level 2 or equivalent with Level 3 competencies
• Maintains a valid driver’s license and any required licenses/certifications
• Completes department-required advanced training/certifications for golf-course equipment, turf management, chemical application, irrigation, or related responsibilities
• Demonstrates ability to train others and lead assigned work without formal supervisory authority

Responsibilities

• Performs all essential functions of Golf Operator I and II
• Acts as lead Maintenance Worker for assigned areas or projects
• Leads daily maintenance planning and sequencing of tasks
• Trains Level 1 and 2 operators in safe operation and routine maintenance
• Reads and interprets equipment manuals; assists with operation and troubleshooting
• Operates and assists with specialized golf-course equipment
• Performs advanced turf-maintenance operations and maintains course standards
• Assists with irrigation inspection and component repairs
• Contributes to turf establishment and renovation projects (sod, seed, top dressing)
• Assists with turf-treatment operations in line with training and safety requirements
• Coordinates bunker maintenance, hole changes, and course setup for events
• Tracks maintenance issues and communicates priorities to supervisor
• Supports senior staff in evaluating equipment needs and efficiency
• Assists with special projects and other related duties as required
