Job summary

Fanatics Betting & Gaming is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate platforms powering the Fan Ecosystem. You will own large portions of backend Go services and contribute to TypeScript/React front ends, delivering high-throughput, reliable systems.

You will mentor engineers, lead architectural reviews, and collaborate with product teams to shape the roadmap. The role emphasizes on‑call reliability, performance, and scalable designs within a fast‑paced enterprise

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) with production services experience and performance tuning.
Experience designing, building, and scaling backend services and APIs in a distributed microservices environment.
Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React or another modern frontend framework.
Solid grounding in data stores, caching, and event streaming (Kafka/SQS/SNS).
Experience with cloud infra (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containers, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
Strong operational instincts: observability, monitoring, and incident response.
Track record of leading projects with multiple contributors and delivering on time.
Familiar with Agile/SCRUM delivery and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Design, build, test, document, and operate high‑quality software with a focus on Go services and APIs.
Own the technical design of medium‑to‑large features and systems and drive them to completion.
Break down ambiguous problems into deliverable work for engineers on the team.
Lead and participate in design and architecture reviews; provide constructive feedback.
Set the standard in code reviews for correctness, readability, and safety.
Mentor and grow engineers; onboard new hires and be a technical point of contact.
Improve on-call effectiveness, incident response, and blameless postmortems.
Improve reliability, performance, and cost of owned systems; define SLOs and metrics.
Partner with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to shape roadmaps.
Define engineering principles and ensure adherence across teams.
Develop deep domain knowledge to inform technical decisions.
