Job summary

Xebia is seeking a skilled backend engineer to design and develop scalable backend solutions using Golang and Python, build reliable APIs, and contribute to architectural decisions. You will work with cloud-native technologies and AI-assisted tools to deliver high-quality software.

You will implement automated testing and E2E coverage, shaping engineering guardrails for AI-generated code while collaborating with an experienced team in a fast-evolving environment.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience developing backend applications with Golang.
• Proven experience developing applications with Python.
• Solid PostgreSQL experience including design and optimisation.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining backend APIs.
• Experience implementing complex workflows and large-scale state machines.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing, especially end-to-end (E2E) testing.
• Experience in an AI-first or AI-assisted software development environment.
• Ability to establish reliable engineering guardrails for AI-generated code, including automated testing and E2E coverage.
• Ability to make sound technical decisions amidst evolving requirements and architecture.

You will be:

Your profile:

• strong commercial experience in developing backend applications using Golang,
• proven experience in developing applications and solutions using Python,
• solid experience with PostgreSQL, including database design and optimisation,
• proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining backend APIs,
• experience implementing complex business workflows and large-scale state machines,
• strong knowledge of automated testing, particularly end-to-end (E2E) testing,
• experience working in an AI-first or AI-assisted software development environment,
• ability to establish reliable engineering guardrails for AI-generated code, including automated testing and E2E test coverage,
• ability to make sound technical decisions and navigate evolving requirements and architectural challenges.

Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

Nice to have:

• experience with Kubernetes, particularly deploying and running backend services within a Kubernetes cluster,
• familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP),
• experience working with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures,
• experience with Redis or Redis-compatible databases,
• knowledge of cloud-native and containerised backend architectures,
• experience in the fintech industry, ideally working with financial workflows related to lending, leasing, or payments,
• experience developing AI agents and agentic workflows,
• experience designing and developing systems that combine automated workflows with human decision‑making or approval processes.
