Job summary

Grocery TV is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to scale and harden our Go-based backend as the platform grows. You will lead backend initiatives end-to-end, working across APIs, delivery pipelines, and orchestration services to improve resiliency, performance, and reliability.

The role requires strong system design judgment and collaboration with Product and other engineers to align with business goals while driving architectural excellence.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Strong Go proficiency for backend services.
• Experience designing and operating high-scale backend systems.
• Knowledge of distributed systems concepts and tradeoffs.
• Experience building API-first services and customer-facing APIs.
• Familiarity with reliability, performance tuning, and fault tolerance strategies.
• Experience with relational databases in production environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills for complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-scale backend services using Go.
• Lead backend projects to improve reliability, resiliency, and performance.
• Design and evolve API-first services for customer-facing and internal apps.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design for future initiatives.
• Partner with Product to plan and execute backend work aligned with goals.
• Identify and remediate performance bottlenecks and reliability risks.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support production systems.
• Collaborate through pairing, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Drive observability and incident follow-ups; promote testing practices.
