The role emphasizes designing robust control laws and localization algorithms, validating them in simulation, and testing on real vehicles in the field. You will mentor junior engineers and may lead the group, working with Python, C/C++, ROS, and AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in engineering with an emphasis in controls and localization.
• 10+ years of relevant controls and localization experience.
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++, with ROS experience.
• Ability to work on-site in Logan, Utah.

Responsibilities

• Design controls and localization algorithms for unmanned ground vehicles.
• Develop simulations that prove controls and localization designs before field testing.
• Validate and tune controls solutions on real vehicles in the field.
• Conduct research to produce design solutions, improvements, and new products.
• Document designs, analyses, and tuning results in company report format.
• Mentor junior GNC engineers and provide technical leadership in controls.
• Write proposals that require controls and localization solutions.
• Use AI coding agents to accelerate development from design to tested capability.
• Implement and integrate solutions across Python and C/C++/ROS.
