Job summary

A well-established residential mechanical contractor in San Diego seeks an Assistant General Manager/General Manager to partner with the division GM in running a ~30M P&L and leading 50–75 field and office staff. This is a hands-on leadership role blending operations, business development, and team building with a clear path to eventual succession into the GM seat.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive operations leadership in residential plumbing, HVAC, or combined mechanical contracting.
• Single-family and/or multi-family new construction experience required; service-only backgrounds will not fit.
• Demonstrated P&L responsibility of $20M+ with ability to grow revenue and protect margin.

Responsibilities

• Co-own divisional P&L performance with the GM (revenue, gross margin, labor productivity, material spend, overhead absorption).
• Drive on-time, on-budget execution across active single-family and multi-family communities; coordinate with builders, field leadership, and service group.
• Ensure strict jobsite safety compliance, training cadence, and incident response with safety function.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks in scheduling, labor, material, change orders, and inspections.
• Develop builder relationships, revive lost ones, and lead pursuits from qualification to award.
