Job summary

Lumen is seeking an External Event Marketing Manager to lead the execution of Tier 1 and Tier 2 third‑party event programs. You will translate strategies into flawless onsite experiences, coordinating with Sales, Product, Partner Marketing, Communications, and agencies to manage planning, staffing, and production from start to finish.

The role requires strong project management, attention to detail, and collaborative skills, with travel up to 25–40% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 8+ years, or 6+ years with a Master’s.
• 5+ years of experience executing large-scale third‑party events, conferences, or experiential programs.
• Experience with major industry events (AWS re:Invent, Microsoft Ignite, etc.).
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex event workstreams with attention to detail.
• Experience creating project plans, staffing, run-of-show, and production timelines.
• Experience managing event agencies, vendors, and venues.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end execution for Tier 1 and Tier 2 third-party events.
• Support the External Event Strategy lead in portfolio plans.
• Own event planning documents, timelines, and run-of-show.
• Serve as primary contact for event agencies and vendors.
• Lead onsite event execution and logistics management.
• Develop staffing plans for events and post-event staffing needs.
• Produce ancillary events (customer dinners, receptions, etc.).
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive seamless execution.
• Create scalable event processes and planning tools.
• Manage budgets, timelines, and vendor deliverables.
• Track results and contribute to post-event reporting.
