Job summary

Lumen is seeking an External Event Marketing Manager to lead the execution of Tier 1 and Tier 2 third-party events. You will partner with Sales, Product Marketing, Communications, and agencies to deliver on objectives with flawless planning, staffing, and onsite production.

This role demands strong project management, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to sustain performance under pressure while driving measurable results across international programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 8+ years of professional experience.
• 6+ years with a Master’s degree.
• 5+ years of experience executing large-scale third-party events.
• Experience with major industry events (e.g., AWS re:Invent, Microsoft Ignite).
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex event workstreams with strong attention to detail.
• Experience managing event agencies, vendors, and venues.
• Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25-40%.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end execution for Tier 1 and Tier 2 third-party events.
• Support the External Event Strategy lead in executing portfolio plans.
• Own event planning documentation, timelines, project plans, run-of-shows, staffing schedules, and execution workstreams.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for event agencies, vendors, venues, and production partners.
• Lead onsite event execution, managing logistics, staffing, and overall operations.
• Develop and manage event staffing plans across events.
• Produce ancillary events such as customer dinners and executive roundtables.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive seamless execution and experiences.
• Create scalable event processes, templates, and planning tools.
• Manage budgets, timelines, and vendor deliverables with brand alignment.
• Track event results and contribute to post-event insights and improvements.
• Identify opportunities to enhance attendee engagement and activations.
