General Motors (GM) is seeking a Senior Global Sourcing Manager to drive sourcing strategy for software, SaaS, and IT infrastructure on regional and global scales.

The role partners with IT, Engineering, Legal and Security to develop, negotiate, and implement sourcing programs, manage supplier relationships, and oversee annual renewal cadences while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procurement standards.

Job DescriptionThe RoleAs a Senior Global Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing Technology purchases (Software, Software as a Service, Infrastructure) on a regional and global basis. You will be responsible for developing, negotiating and implementing sourcing strategies by working with key stakeholders on technology requirements, IT, security and legal, which then requires preparing and completing sourcing recommendations to various levels of management.What You’ll DoUnderstand the Software, IT, and Automotive industries and the strategic direction GM software and services is headed.Ability to work effectively cross functionally, internally and externally, while building strong relationshipsPartner with IT and Business on strategy of supply base, technologies, products used, future products, technology roadmap, and viable suppliers for technology requirements.Active and effective participation with key stakeholders, including Engineering, IT, Business Stakeholders, Legal, and Security, among others.Develop and manage suppliers under the guidance of quality, service, technology, and price negotiations. This includes sound understanding of deadlines, required lead times, supplier contracts and application types.Manage annual renewal cadence and deadlines proactively.Negotiate competitive pricing, robust terms, and potential other items to complete a full contract package.Develop and maintain benchmark data to drive a strategy.Proven competence in negotiation skillsExperience handling commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performanceProfessional interpersonal verbal and written communication skillsAdhere to corporate purchasing and accounting policies and proceduresUtilize Global Purchasing and Supply Chain sourcing process to manage Sourcing packages.Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)5+ years relevant experience in purchasing (any internship or co-op experience will not be considered)Analytical Thinking - Ability to effectively negotiate all terms and conditions. Considers various factors in decision making to determine solutions and their impacts, and make recommendations on the termsStrategic Mindset – Strong strategic thinking. Ability to create a technology roadmap by collaborating with IT. This includes understanding the supply base, technologies, products used, future potential products, and how this fits into IT’s vision.Data Judgement - Ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions to make sound recommendationsInformative Communication - Ability to communicate relevant information to the appropriate audience (including leadership) both effectively and timelyRelationship Management - Develops and maintains constructive, cooperative working relationshipsNegotiation – Drive collaborative discussions to reach meaningful agreementsResults Focus - Take charge without prompting, seize opportunities and deliver on timeWorkload Management - Manage multiple tasks with quality and prioritize by critical needs, while moving with urgencySAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systemsHigh level knowledge about Software/ technology PurchasingStrong proficiency with basic software concepts and ability to speak to Legal & Commercial Terms & ConditionsAbility to travel 10% of the time domestically + InternationallyWhat Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Knowledge of procurement softwareDemonstrate strong execution skillsEngineering background with Software purchasing experience is preferred.Understand basic engineering documentsSolid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processesGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
