Job summary

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is seeking a Senior International Property Underwriter to join our San Francisco or Los Angeles team. You will manage fronted global property programs, underwrite large corporate exposures, and lead client and broker relationships in the California market.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to structure programs, assess Nat Cat risks, and drive technical excellence while traveling regionally as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4-10 years' experience as an underwriter.
• Experience in structuring and fronting global programs preferred.
• Experience working with Captives a plus.
• Knowledge of complex shared and layered program structures as well as 100% Single Carrier business.
• Skills working across diverse occupancies including heavy manufacturing preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance and commercial property underwriting in the west region.
• Proficiency in the use of underwriting tools, applications, and guidelines.
• Strong broker and client network in the local region.
• Solid experience and understanding of Nat Cat and man-made risk management and loss prevention.
• Negotiating skills and the ability to handle multiple deals in parallel.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of accounts including fronted global property programs.
• Analyze and underwrite exposures including Natural Catastrophe hazards.
• Assess technical insurability regarding exposures and coverages on new offers and renewals.
• Prepare quotations, structure programs, and offer proposals per guidelines.
• Use Swiss Re tools and systems for development of terms and conditions.
• Enter and maintain risk information in information systems and administer accounts.
• Establish and maintain a book of business and market prospects.
• Coach less experienced underwriters when necessary.
• Lead internal and external projects related to technical/market initiatives.
• Represent Swiss Re in meetings with clients, brokers, and Swiss Re Group entities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients and team members.
• Conduct technical analysis of manmade and Nat Cat property exposures and pricing metrics.
• Structure capacity deployment and negotiate terms aligning with underwriting strategy.
