Job summary

You will collaborate with the Lilly Legal Patent team and business leadership, handling global patent strategy, risk assessment, and prosecution across jurisdictions.

Ideal candidates hold a J.D. with a robust science background, 10+ years in pharma patent practice, and active USPTO/US bar admission.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited US institution.
• 10+ years as a practicing patent attorney in pharma.
• Admitted to practice in at least one US jurisdiction and USPTO.
• Bachelor's or higher in a scientific field related to pharma.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship expected.

Responsibilities

• Develop global patent strategies for key pharmaceutical assets across discovery, development and manufacturing.
• Analyze IP risks and craft strategic, business-aligned approaches.
• Advise senior management on exclusivity, patentability, and freedom-to-operate.
• Stay updated on global patent laws, precedents and regulations relevant to pharma products.
• Lead and manage projects; improve policies and procedures; guide teams.
• Foster efficiency, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within the group.
