Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking a Glass Melting Engineer to maintain and improve melting operations, leveraging expertise in batch and furnace design. You will interact with batch and furnace engineers, process leaders, and materials scientists across North America.

The role requires a bachelor’s in a relevant field, 2–3 years in glass melting, and willingness to travel up to 60%. A strong safety focus and readiness to lead technical initiatives are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Glass Science, Materials Science or Ceramic/Chemical Engineering is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
• At least 2 to 3 years of manufacturing experience within glass melting operations.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% supporting operations at North American locations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a Commitment to Safety and provides technical and operational guidance.
• Authors SOPs and JHAs for new method development and implementation.
• Provides Division Level Technical Leadership for Glass Melting Operations.
• Leads or supports batch house operations, furnace heat-ups, and related projects.
• Reviews data and provides technical guidance to leadership to improve safety, productivity, and energy use.
• Develops heat up plans and oversees major refractory repairs and startup activities.
• Identifies opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
