Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking a Glass Melting Engineer to enhance melting operations across North American sites. You will work with batch & furnace teams to implement new technologies, improve process stability, and optimize energy use.

Travel up to 60% is required to support multiple plants. The role reports to the Center of Excellence Glass Melting Team Leader and involves safety-driven leadership, operating procedure development, and advanced furnace projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Glass Science, Materials Science or Ceramic/Chemical Engineering is required (advanced degree preferred).
• 2–3 years manufacturing experience in glass melting operations ideal.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% across North American sites.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a commitment to safety and provides technical guidance for safety.
• Authors SOPs/JHAs for new methods and implementations.
• Provide safe glass melting operations and lead/participate in batch house operations, furnace heat-ups, and related projects.
• Review data from batch, melting, and process systems to advise OC leadership on safety, productivity, energy use, and asset life.
• Lead startup activities for new/rebuilt furnaces and oversee heat-up plans and contractor coordination.
• Identify opportunities to improve melting capabilities and reduce costs.
