Job summary

Canonical is seeking a Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer to join our Information Systems team. You will drive automation, implement GitOps, and build scalable infrastructure across private and public clouds using open source tools.

You will collaborate with distributed teams, improve production operations, and mentor peers. The role emphasizes an automation-first mindset, Linux reliability, and modern CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related engineering field.
• Strong Linux administration experience on enterprise servers.
• Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems.
• Proven ability to deploy cloud infrastructure using code (IaC).
• Excellent written and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Drive automation and GitOps in your team as an embedded tech lead.
• Design and architect services IS can offer as products.
• Improve IaC practices and increase automation.
• Maintain operational responsibility for Canonical's core services and infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot, capacity plan, and investigate performance across clouds.
• Collaborate with globally distributed engineers, operations, and support peers.
• Own time-critical escalations and mentor teammates.
