Job summary

Canonical is seeking a Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer to advance automation for private and public clouds. You will work on infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and open source tooling, shaping scalable IT operations for Ubuntu-related platforms.

You will collaborate with distributed teams, improve observability, and mentor peers while owning time-critical escalations and driving product-like IS services.

Qualifications

• Experience building scalable SRE and GitOps pipelines.
• Strong Linux system administration skills and networking knowledge.
• Proficient in Python development and large projects.
• Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems.
• Ability to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure with code.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Drive automation and GitOps in the IS team as embedded tech lead.
• Collaborate with IS architect to align solutions with architecture vision.
• Design services that IS can offer as products.
• Develop IaC practices to increase automation across private/public clouds.
• Automate software operations for re-use and consistency.
• Maintain operational responsibility for core services and networks.
• Develop troubleshooting, capacity planning and observability practices.
• Provide support with globally distributed peers.
• Share knowledge through design sessions and mentorship.
• Own time-critical escalations when required.
