Job summary

City of Springfield seeks a Senior GIS Specialist to maintain NG9-1-1 GIS layers, ensure accurate location data, and support emergency call routing. The role also integrates GIS data from surrounding counties into Greene County databases and coordinates mapping with partner agencies.

You will create custom maps, perform spatial analyses, and refine workflows for GIS data and the NG9-1-1 system, delivering reliable maps for dispatchers and responders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Geospatial Science, Planning, Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field.
• One year of responsible experience in GIS applications.
• Associate's Degree with significant coursework in the above fields.
• Two years of responsible experience in GIS applications.
• A Master's Degree may substitute for one year of required experience.
• Experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Maintain core 911 GIS layers such as addresses, centerlines, fire, police and EMS response areas feeding NG9-1-1.
• Correct and troubleshoot location and dispatch-related errors for future prevention.
• Integrate surrounding county data into Greene County databases for accurate automatic aid and call transfers.
• Create custom maps for partner agencies and standard layout formats for digital and paper maps.
• Coordinate with partner agencies to determine mapping needs and deliver uniform maps.
