Job summary

Bernalillo County is seeking a GIS Technician to create and maintain maps and geographic data for internal and external users at 415 Silver Ave SW, Albuquerque. You will support staff with GIS software, troubleshoot issues, and generate reports to support county programs.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related field.
• 2 years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Responsibilities

• Develop, analyze, and implement GIS applications; enter geographic data into the GIS and maintain layers.
• Assist with GIS database structures, metadata standards, and QA/QC procedures.
• Prepare digital and printed cartographic products and publish maps at various scales.
• Train staff in GIS usage, data queries, and troubleshooting; review deeds/surveys to ensure accurate boundaries.
• Perform routine system maintenance, backups, and software upgrades.
• Coordinate with County departments and outside agencies to keep GIS data current.
• Handle sensitive records in compliance with privacy and security requirements.
