Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior frontend/geospatial developer in the United States to design, implement, and maintain modular UI components using React and TypeScript while integrating geoprocessing tools and ETL workflows with ArcGIS APIs.

You will collaborate with GIS and data teams to deliver scalable web services, perform code reviews, and drive DevOps practices across projects, ensuring a high-quality user experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or related field.
• 5+ years in front-end development with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS.
• 5+ years scripting with Python or similar data-processing tools.
• 2+ years of CI/CD and Agile practices (Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Jira).
• Experience with ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript and ArcGIS API for Python.
• Proficiency in SQL scripting and Azure cloud data architecture.
• Portfolio of geospatial projects is strongly encouraged.

• Create custom Python geoprocessing tools for ArcGIS


• Manage, analyze, process, project, convert, and present geospatial data in various formats


• Implement ETL processes for data integrations with internal and external APIs


• Participate in software development planning and code reviews


• Use DevOps for version control and project management


• Collaborate with GIS and other teams to provide ongoing enhancements and seamless user experience

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or related field


• 5+ years of experience in front-end software development with React, Typescript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS


• 5+ years of experience with scripting languages and tools such as Python, or other data processing tools


• 2+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile software development (e.g. Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Jira)


• Excellent verbal and written communications skills


• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future


• Experience with ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, ArcGIS API for Python, ArcGIS REST API, Pandas preferred


• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online preferred


• Knowledge of cartographic principles dealing with projections, scales, geo-referencing, map layouts and composition preferred


• Ability to use spatial analysis techniques and data visualization preferred


• Technical knowledge of GIS and ability to read, interpret and understand legal descriptions, maps, plats, aerial photographs and other GIS-related source information preferred


• Proficiency in SQL Database scripting preferred


• Familiarity with Azure cloud environment and data architecture in Azure preferred


• Familiarity with creating ETL workflows with FME, Alteryx, or similar preferred


• Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) preferred


• Experience in Renewable Energy preferred


• Submitting a portfolio of prior work is strongly encouraged

Demonstrates expertise in designing and developing responsive UI components using React and Typescript, along with strong capabilities in geospatial data management and automation processes. Proficient in implementing ETL workflows and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance user experience.
