Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Applications Developer with 4+ years of experience in Esri GIS to design and implement GIS solutions within ArcGIS Enterprise. You will integrate GIS platforms with other enterprise systems, develop APIs, and document software requirements for clients.

You will collaborate with business partners to translate needs into technical specifications, mentor team members, and contribute to SDLC compliance while staying current with GIS technologies and reporting tools.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in GIS or a related field and 4+ years designing Esri GIS solutions.
• Strong programming experience in Python and/or Java, with API and documentation skills.
• Experience integrating GIS platforms with enterprise systems and SQL development.

Job description

• Assists in the design and development and testing of software applications
• Resolves day-to-day incidents to assure the integrity of the services being provided
• Consume, transform and update data between two or more systems using integration software
• Consults with business partner to identify and define software applications needs
• Analyzes requests for changes, updates or modifications to new or existing software applications and makes recommendations for designs to meet client specifications
• Consults with business partners to create documentation relating to the program definition, development, business requirements. Documentation includes software objectives, deliverables, and end user specifications
• Assists, mentors, and provides technical direction, leadership, guidance and support for Applications Developers and other IT staff, helps in smooth maintenance of the system and meet SLA’s to provide data to the users
• Writes, translates, and codes software programs and applications according to specifications and end user requirements
• Prepares system, context and infrastructure diagrams needed in application development and analysis
• Trains end users to operate new or modified programs, reporting tools and analytics
• Prepares and writes reports for management and/or team members on the status of assignments
• Works with end users regarding systems analysis, general systems design and detail systems design
• Works independently to keeps abreast of new and changing technological advances in program languages, utilities, tools, and client/server technology to assure achievement of optimum results
• Follow the IT procedures and naming conventions guidance. Also provide proper documentation as required by IT standards

MUST HAVES

• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• 4+ years of experience designing and developing Esri GIS solutions, preferably within ArcGIS Enterprise environments
• Strong programming experience in Python and/or Java, with proficiency in at least one language
• Experience developing integrations between GIS platforms and other enterprise systems, including error handling and reporting.
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and ability to clearly articulate development processes and best practices
• Experience developing reusable code, APIs, and technical documentation
• Knowledge of spatial databases and SQL development
• Language-agnostic mindset with the ability to work across multiple technologies and tools

NICE TO HAVE

• Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcPy, and ArcGIS Online
• Understanding of Waterfall project delivery methodologies
• Experience supporting GIS implementations within the utility industry
• Familiarity with mobile GIS technologies, field workforce solutions, and real-time GIS capabilities
