Job summary

OneEnergy is seeking a GIS Data Engineer to lead data system advancement, owning architecture, pipelines, and automation for spatial and tabular data. You will collaborate with Commercial Strategy, GIS, Development, Systems, Engineering, and Finance to deliver reliable data resources.

The role requires turning data into scalable, well-modeled resources, mentoring GIS staff, and driving architecture decisions. Seattle-based, with strong focus on data-centric solutions and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, or related field, or comparable professional experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related discipline with ownership of a project or system.
• Strong experience in Python and SQL with hands-on data pipelines and geoprocessing workflows.
• Experience designing and managing a relational SQL database (PostgreSQL) with PostGIS/ArcSDE or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases and schemas.
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for geospatial and tabular data from internal systems, ArcGIS, APIs, and external datasets.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to GIS team members.
• Write and optimize SQL and Python code to automate geoprocessing, data validation, and recurring workflows.
• Design data models and scalable table structures.
• Build and maintain integrations (APIs, views, exports) for dashboards and analytics tools.
• Document data architecture, pipeline logic, and data lineage.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data needs into scalable solutions.
• Evaluate and lead decisions on new tools and architectures as data grows.
