Job summary

City of Dallas is hiring a GIS Analyst III to provide advanced analysis, programming, and testing for the city’s GIS. The role maintains software, conducts network and hardware tasks, and develops web GIS solutions.

Responsibilities include leading GIS support, creating apps with JavaScript and Python, generating reports, and mentoring staff. A 2-year GIS background and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Planning, Computer Science, Information Systems, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math field.
• Two (2) years of experience designing and/or implementing Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Equivalency options: HS diploma + 6 years; Associate + 4 years; Bachelor + 4 years in non-specified field; Bachelor + non-specified field + GIS cert + 4 years.
• Experience with JavaScript, Python, ArcPy, C#, Java, Visual Basic, and/or PowerShell.
• Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, SQL, PL-SQL, Transact-SQL.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily operational GIS support and leadership to users and teams.
• Develop and maintain web apps using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, ESRI API, Python, Django.
• Provide programming, coding, testing, and analysis for GIS development and refinement.
• Prepare technical reports on geographically related data and models.
• Guide technicians on databases, software, and GIS tools.
• Coordinate GIS databases and prepare reports for site and facility inspections.
• Assist in software/hardware deployment and GIS deployment support.
• Analyze software/hardware needs and propose improvements.
• Create advanced GIS reports based on data and activities.
• Perform other duties as needed.
