Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a GIS Analyst III to provide advanced analysis, programming, and testing for the City’s GIS. Responsibilities include maintaining software, network admin, and hardware acquisition to support geospatial analyses across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Planning, Computer Science, Information Systems, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
• Two (2) years of experience designing and/or implementing Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily operational support to departmental GIS users; troubleshoots GIS app problems and leads other analysts.
• Develops and creates web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, ESRI Python, and Django; maintains GIS apps and documents; tests and debugs.
• Provides programming, coding, testing, and analysis to develop GIS systems; ensures quality of projects and offers feedback.
• Prepares technical and operational reports related to geographic models; updates zoning and property descriptions; amends maps and exhibits.
• Guides technicians on projects; trains GIS analysts on databases, software, and tools.
• Coordinates with divisions to develop GIS databases; prepares inspection reports and updates maps and requirements.
• Assists in software/hardware specifications, installation, and maintenance; supports GIS deployment.
• Analyzes current/future software/hardware needs; makes recommendations for improvement.
• Creates advanced reports from GIS databases and activities.
• Performs additional duties as needed.
