Job summary

Aiken County (SC) is seeking a GIS professional to analyze, prepare, and prioritize special GIS projects for departments, public groups, and individuals. The role includes auditing GIS data for accuracy and editing spatial datasets beyond cadastral data.

The candidate will perform data analyses, produce map products like the annual Road Atlas, and develop custom tools to automate GIS tasks. Supervisory duties may arise when the GeoServices Manager is unavailable.

Qualifications

• BS in Geography, Engineering or Science field.
• 5 years in GIS using Esri software.
• Esri product knowledge, GIS programming.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing county spatial data for accuracy and completeness; modify database structure as needed.
• Perform weekly data loads to production database and keep central data current (centerline, EMS).
• Conduct geospatial analyses and create map products (e.g., Road Atlas) with clear visuals.
• Develop custom GIS tools and simple web apps to automate recurring tasks and improve workflows.
• Provide technical/managerial support; QA/QC cadastral outputs; train staff; act as supervisor in absence of GeoServices Manager.
