Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the Analysis Solutions Group in Reston, Virginia. This role focuses on advanced geotechnical analysis of underground and complex infrastructure and serving as a technical advisor across multidisciplinary teams.

You will lead field investigations, apply geotechnical methods, and communicate findings to government stakeholders while supporting technology development in geotechnical sensing and modeling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
• 12+ years of relevant experience, or master's with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong background in geomechanics, geotechnical engineering, field geophysics, computer modeling and simulation, tunnel and slope stability analysis, and rock mass characterization.
• Advanced proficiency with geotechnical software PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, Slide, LPILE, gINT.
• Experience with GIS technologies (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise) and MATLAB.
• Experience conducting geotechnical investigations, field data collection, and subsurface engineering analysis.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical expert in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, and subsurface characterization.
• Conduct advanced geotechnical assessments using diverse data sources to characterize sites and facilities.
• Analyze soil, rock, and geologic conditions for underground and hardened infrastructure assessments.
• Utilize geospatial technologies to evaluate site geology and geotechnical conditions.
• Develop technical assessments, reports, and briefings communicating findings and risks to customers.
• Support development of innovative technologies and methodologies for geotechnical conditions in challenging environments.
• Plan and execute field investigations, surveys, and data collection in the US and internationally.
• Brief senior government officials and technical stakeholders on trends and findings.
