Job summary

Leidos seeks a Geotechnical Engineer in Reston, VA to support geologic and geotechnical analysis for underground and hardened facilities. You will evaluate soil and rock properties to characterize above- and below-ground structures and surrounding geology.

You will join a multidisciplinary team developing methodologies and processes for modeling geotechnical attributes, field surveys, and sensor-enabled techniques for mission-critical government work. TS/SCI clearance required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Engineering Geology, Geology, or Geotechnical Engineering with required years.
• Strong background in geomechanics, modeling and field geophysics.
• Advanced knowledge of geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, SLOPE/W (GeoStudio), LPILE, gINT, and Slide.
• Experience with GIS tools ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Enterprise and MATLAB.
• U.S. Citizenship with in-scope TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Solve highly complex problems through technical analysis, reasoning, and interpretation.
• Conduct geotechnical evaluations using imagery to assess geological attributes.
• Use ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise to analyze and document site geology and geotechnical characteristics.
• Prepare briefings and technical reports for customers and colleagues.
• Plan and execute field surveys and data collection efforts.
