Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support the analysis of soil and rock properties for underground and hardened facilities.

You will contribute to multidisciplinary teams, applying geotechnical expertise to model complex sites, conduct field surveys, and prepare technical reports for mission-critical government work.

Ideal candidates have TS/SCI clearance, strong geotechnical software knowledge, and experience communicating findings to senior officials.

Qualifications

• Clearance: TS/SCI Polygraph and U.S. Citizenship required.
• BS degree with 8+ years or MS with 6+ years in Engineering Geology, Geology, or Mining/Geotechnical Engineering.
• Strong background in geomechanics, computer modeling, field geophysics, and tunnel/slope rock mass characterization.
• Advanced knowledge of geotechnical software (PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, LPILE, gINT, Slide).
• Experience with GIS tools including ArcGIS Pro/Enterprise and MATLAB.
• Experience in geotechnical research, field data collection, drilling, core logging, mining, tunnel construction/design, trenchless tech, and intelligence analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to brief senior officials.
• Expert-level knowledge of advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.

Responsibilities

• Solve highly complex problems through technical analysis, reasoning, and interpretation.
• Conduct geotechnical evaluations using open-source information, imagery, and intelligence reporting.
• Use ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise to analyze and document site geology and geotechnical characteristics.
• Prepare briefs and technical reports for customers and colleagues.
• Provide technical support for technologies and sensor systems in denied areas.
• Plan and execute field surveys and data collection.
• Interpret borehole data, soil assessments, and fault studies.
• Produce technical reports and conduct field research at sites across the U.S. and worldwide.
• Develop new technical solutions, products, and standards for mission objectives.
• Brief team members and senior officials on capability trends, analysis, and findings.
