Job summary

NewRange Copper Nickel is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support tailings facility care and maintenance, applying engineering fundamentals to ensure practical solutions. You will participate in governance, instrumentation, and field programs aligned with GISTM standards.

The role requires collaboration with Independent Tailings Review Board (ITRB), stakeholders, and project teams to manage risk and drive safe operations in a mining context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in mining or consulting geotechnical work.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or active progress toward licensure.
• Significant tailings storage facility design and management experience.
• Experience with GISTM conformance is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, oversight, and execution of geotechnical field programs for tailings facilities.
• Coordinate geotechnical drilling, instrumentation installation, and field investigations.
• Support scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, and other study phases.
• Integrate slope stability design, tailings management concepts, and hydrology into designs.
• Develop geotechnical standards, monitoring plans, and performance criteria.
• Manage project budgets and assist in contracting and vendor oversight.
