Job summary

WSP USA in Wexford, PA seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical design, investigations, and project management for diverse infrastructure projects across the Appalachian Basin. You will oversee field programs, perform analyses, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with clients and regulators.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of geotechnical experience, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• 5–7 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Ability to coordinate with clients, colleagues and third-party groups.
• Analytical mindset with knowledge of geological research techniques.
• Proficient with geotechnical software and office tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as design engineer and manage geotechnical projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on multi-sector projects.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, specs, and calculations.
• Plan field work and subsurface explorations with senior technical oversight.
• Conduct subsurface investigations, soil analysis, and slope stability assessments.
• Prepare geotechnical recommendation reports and cost estimates.
• Develop construction plans and safety/phasing strategies.
• Create data visualizations and accurate reports for presentations.
• Interact with regulatory agencies, clients, and subcontractors.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical direction.
• Support national and regional client programs and marketing efforts.
