Ausenco is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Waste Solutions Team in Denver. You will lead geotechnical analysis, design, and reporting for tailings storage facilities and related mine infrastructure, while mentoring junior staff and engaging in site investigations and client collaboration.

The role requires a 10+ year background, a Civil Engineering background, and strong report writing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
  • From 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering, with PE certification as a valuable asset.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field preferred.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Familiarity with international tailings management standards.
  • Proven experience in designing tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, heap leach facilities and related mine infrastructure.
  • Expertise in dam stability analysis, water management, and civil design principles.
  • Proficiency in GeoStudio, Slide, PLAXIS (or similar), and Autodesk Civil 3D is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in geotechnical site investigations and lab testing programs.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, proposals, and project documentation.
  • Manage design drawings and specifications from scoping through detailed design and construction.
  • Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure timely project execution.
  • Mentor junior staff and support professional development.
  • Travel to client sites in the USA and internationally as needed.

Job description

Our Mine Waste Solutions Team is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to work at our Denver location. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent technical and interpersonal skills to work with our talented team in delivering outstanding service to our clients.

About the role:
  • Conduct geotechnical analysis, design, and reporting for projects involving tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, and other mine infrastructure.
  • Participate in geotechnical site investigation/laboratory testing programs and results interpretation
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, proposals, and project documentation to support client needs and project milestones.
  • Manage the preparation of design drawings and specifications, from initial scoping studies through to detailed design and construction phases.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring timely and successful project execution.
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Willingness to travel to client sites within the USA and internationally to support project activities.
About you
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
  • From 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering, with a Professional Engineer (PE) certification being a valuable asset.
  • A Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Familiarity with international tailings management standards.
  • Proven experience in the design of tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, heap leach facilities and related mine infrastructure.
  • Expertise in dam stability analysis, water management, and civil design principles.
  • Proficiency in GeoStudio, Slide, advanced modelling tools such as PLAXIS (or similar), Autodesk Civil 3D is a strong asset.

Salary range: $111,000 - $160,000
