Job summary

Baird is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical design for marine nearshore, coastal, and hydraulic infrastructure projects. You will apply soil and rock mechanics to complex interactions of earth, water, and structures, and mentor teammates across several offices.

Ideal candidates hold an advanced degree in geotechnical engineering, 10+ years of relevant experience, and a professional registration.

Qualifications

M.Sc. or M.Eng. in Geotechnical Engineering (Ph.D. preferred).
10+ years of geotechnical experience for marine, coastal, or hydraulic projects.
P.E. or multi-state P.Eng. registration (benefits).
Expertise in soil/rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, groundwater hydrology, soil-structure interaction.
Proficient with geotechnical software: gINT, APILE, LPILE, PYWALL, GeoStudio, PLAXIS, FLAC, Slide, Settle3.
Strong communication, leadership, and project-management skills.
Willingness to travel; valid U.S. passport.

Responsibilities

Serve as a subject matter expert within multi-disciplinary project teams.
Provide geotechnical design support for marine, coastal, and hydraulic projects.
Develop, manage, and supervise geotechnical data campaigns.
Prepare and review geotechnical scopes, proposals, and reports.
Conduct QA reviews of historical port/marine terminal reports.
Assist in plans and specifications development.
Oversee project delivery from conception to completion.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight.
Collaborate across offices and time zones.
Participate in proposals and client presentations.
